Honoring Veterans for November

November 11 is Veterans Day in the United States. I’m going to dedicate November’s blog posts to all of the Veterans and their families.

To Veterans

Your service has been detrimental in our country’s success. Without you, we wouldn’t have the freedoms that we take for granted daily.

The terrors that you witnessed, the friends and comrades that you lost, the physical and mental exhaustion and pain that you felt, the family you had to leave…..I recognize that it was not in vain.

In ways I cannot convey, I am grateful for the sense of security I have and the hope that is instilled in me for a better life, because of your sacrifices.

I have worked with Veterans on a daily basis, and will find myself mesmerized by their stories, what they witnessed and their hardships. Yet, here they are, still fighting….but now for their own lives instead of everyone else’s. I feel honored to serve them and their families.

To the Families of Veterans

You have also sacrificed a great deal. It has not gone unnoticed. I can only imagine the hardships you have had to endure while your spouse, parent, child, sibling or friend was knowingly in harm’s way. And they did it to protect not just you.

You could have been selfish, but you weren’t. You were there to support them and in turn, supported our country. Thank you.

How I Hope to Serve You Now

I cannot repay you enough for the sacrifice of you and your family. What I can do is provide you with knowledge and resources I have obtained while working as a Social Worker.

In my profession, I have become very familiar with the services offered by the Veterans Affairs (VA). It is a large program that can be difficult to navigate.

My hope is to lay out all that I know here. Every post for the month of November will feature information about Veterans benefits and services offered through the VA and how you can access their programs.

Hopefully I can give you clarity and a better understanding of what is available to you and your family.

If you find any of November’s posts to be helpful in any way, I ask that you please share them. The more people it can reach, the more people it can help. We are in this together!
